Public debt went up in Germany

In 2023 Germany public debt was 2,622,669 million euros2,835,892 million dollars, has increased 60,995134,722 million since 2022.

This amount means that the debt in 2023 reached 63.6% of Germany GDP, a 2.5 percentage point fall from 2022, when it was 66.1% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Germany debt. It has risen since 2013 in global debt terms, when it was 2,201,918 million euros 2,924,451 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 78.3%.

According to the last data point published, Germany per capita debt in 2023 was 31,430 euros33,985 dollars per inhabitant. In 2022 it was 30,366 euros 32,020 dollars, afterwards rising by 1,064 euros1,965 dollars, and if we again check 2013 we can see that then the debt per person was 27,262 euros36,208 dollars .

The position of Germany, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2023 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 115 in the list of debt to GDP and 172 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
