In 2016 Ecuador public debt was 38,201 million euros 42,273 million dollars, has increased 8,0008,761 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 42.87% of Ecuador GDP, a 9.12 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 33.75% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Ecuador debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 14,216 million euros 17,850 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 38.14%.
According to the last data point published, Ecuador per capita debt in 2016 was 2,311 euros2,558 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 1,855 euros 2,059 dollars, afterwards rising by 456 euros499 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,018 euros1,278 dollars .
The position of Ecuador, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 74 in the list of debt to GDP and 98 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
