Public debt in Cyprus goes down

In 2023 Cyprus public debt was 23,036 million euros24,909 million dollars, has decreased 740284 million since 2022.

This amount means that the debt in 2023 reached 77.3% of Cyprus GDP, a 8.3 percentage point fall from 2022, when it was 85.6% of GDP.

If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Cyprus debt. It has risen since 2013 in global debt terms, when it was 18,707 million euros 24,596 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 103.7%.

According to the last data point published, Cyprus per capita debt in 2023 was 25,021 euros27,055 dollars per inhabitant. In 2022 it was 25,824 euros 26,746 dollars, afterwards dropping by 803 euros 309dollars, and if we again check 2013 we can see that then the debt per person was 21,802 euros28,667 dollars .

The position of Cyprus, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2023 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 143 in the list of debt to GDP and 165 in debt per capita, out of the 191 we publish.
