In Uruguay there were 15.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.69 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 526 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 405 were men suicides and 121 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 25.31 per 100,000 men and for women 7.07 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Uruguay suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 197 homicides in Uruguay, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.7 suicides.
