Ukraine has a very high suicide rate

In 2002 occurred 15,768 suicides in Ukraine. This year, 600 fewer people committed suicide than in 2001. In 2002, on average 43 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine had 32.97 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 15,768 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 13,010 were men suicides and 2,758 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 58.84 per 100,000 men and for women 10.73 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 4,296 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.7 suicides.
