Number of suicides increases in Tajikistan

In 2002 around 268 suicides occurred in Tajikistan, 13 more than in 2001.

Tajikistan reported 4.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 268 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 204 were men suicides and 65 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.32 per 100,000 men and for women 1.95 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tajikistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 180 homicides in Tajikistan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
