South Korea has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 15,412 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 9,936 were men suicides and 5,476 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 40.1 per 100,000 men and for women 22.3 per 100,000 female In spite of this, it is the country with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In South Korea suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 532 homicides in South Korea, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 29 suicides.
