There are 17 suicides per day in South Korea

In 1997 occurred 6,125 suicides in South Korea. This year, 269 more people committed suicide than in 1996. In 1997, on average 17 South Koreans committed suicide every day.

South Korea had 13.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

South Korea, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 6,125 recorded suicide cases in 1997, 4,234 were men suicides and 1,891 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 18.3 per 100,000 men and for women 8.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In South Korea suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 277 homicides in South Korea, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 22.1 suicides.
