Slovenia had 21.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10 suicides per 100,000 people.
Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 447 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 350 were men suicides and 97 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.7 per 100,000 men and for women 9.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 13 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 34.4 suicides.
