In 1987 around 618 suicides occurred in Slovenia, 22 more than in 1986. In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.
Slovenia reported 31.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.56 suicides per 100,000 people.
Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 618 recorded suicide cases in 1987, 446 were men suicides and 172 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 46.2 per 100,000 men and for women 16.8 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
