In 1978 occurred 322 suicides in New Zealander. This year, 43 fewer people committed suicide than in 1977.

New Zealander had 10.2 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 12.98 self-harm per 100.000 people.

New Zealander has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 322 recorded suicide cases in 1978, 208 were men suicides and 114 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.2 per 100,000 men and for women 7.2 per 100,000 female.
