Mongolia has a very high suicide rate

By 2008, suicides in Mongolia increased by 75 people to at 721 suicides In Mongolia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Mongolia there were 27.06 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Mongolia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 721 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 604 were men suicides and 117 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 46.07 per 100,000 men and for women 8.86 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mongolia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 212 homicides in Mongolia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.4 suicides.
