Moldova has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 771 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 628 were men suicides and 143 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 36.64 per 100,000 men and for women 7.72 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Moldova suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 236 homicides in Moldova, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.3 suicides.
