In Mexico there were 3.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 3,811 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 3,110 were men suicides and 674 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.3 per 100,000 men and for women 1.3 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Mexico. However, in Mexico in 2001 there were there were 10,285 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.7 homicides per suicide.
