Mauritania - Intentional self-harm

In 2003 occurred 153 suicides in Mauritania. This year, 7 more people committed suicide than in 2002.

Mauritania had 5.32 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 153 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 109 were men suicides and 45 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.57 per 100,000 men and for women 3.08 per 100,000 female.
