Suicides grow in Kyrgyzstan

By 2002, suicides in Kyrgyzstan increased by 5 people to at 651 suicides In Kyrgyzstan, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Kyrgyzstan there were 13.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 10.78 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 651 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 533 were men suicides and 118 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 21.89 per 100,000 men and for women 4.61 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kyrgyzstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 411 homicides in Kyrgyzstan, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.6 suicides.
