Suicides grow in Ireland

By 2008, suicides in Ireland increased by 48 people to at 506 suicides In Ireland, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Ireland there were 11.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 506 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 386 were men suicides and 120 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.2 per 100,000 men and for women 5.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ireland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 51 homicides in Ireland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 9.9 suicides.
