In 2014 around 2,824 suicides occurred in Iran, 33 more than in 2013. In 2014, on average 8 Iranians committed suicide every day.
Iran reported 3.62 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.71 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 2,824 recorded suicide cases in 2014, 1,701 were men suicides and 1,122 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.19 per 100,000 men and for women 2.85 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Iran suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,936 homicides in Iran, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
