Suicides fell in Guatemala

By 2003, suicides in Guatemala increased by 24 people to at 454 suicides In Guatemala, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Guatemala there were 3.64 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 454 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 359 were men suicides and 96 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.82 per 100,000 men and for women 1.53 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Guatemala. However, in Guatemala in 2003 there were there were 4,237 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 9.3 homicides per suicide.
