Ethiopia - Intentional self-harm

In 2002 occurred 5,982 suicides in Ethiopia. This year, 39 more people committed suicide than in 2001. In 2002, on average 16 Ethiopians committed suicide every day.

Ethiopia had 8.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.78 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 5,982 recorded suicide cases in 2002, 4,756 were men suicides and 1,227 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.33 per 100,000 men and for women 3.47 per 100,000 female.
