In Dominican Republic there were 7.22 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 720 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 586 were men suicides and 134 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.18 per 100,000 men and for women 2.59 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Dominican Republic. However, in Dominican Republic in 2015 there were there were 1,810 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.5 homicides per suicide.
