Of the 19 recorded suicide cases in 2004, 17 were men suicides and 2 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.38 per 100,000 men and for women 1.47 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2004 there were there were 79 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 4.2 homicides per suicide.
