Belize - Intentional self-harm

In 2003 occurred 17 suicides in Belize. This year, 2 more people committed suicide than in 2002.

Belize had 6.35 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.69 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 17 recorded suicide cases in 2003, 13 were men suicides and 4 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.63 per 100,000 men and for women 3.26 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2003 there were there were 67 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 3.9 homicides per suicide.
