Ukraine rises the national minimum wage

Since June 2008, the national minimum wage in Ukraine remained fixed at €69.6 per month, that is 835 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Hryvnias, which is the official currency in Ukraine, we can see that, this year, it was 525 Hryvnias and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 10 Hryvnias per month from the previous year, 1.94%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2008 which was 16.6%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Ukraine is in 63 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 90 of the list.

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) of a country is the minimum amount (lowest salary) per hour, per day, or per month that employers may legally pay to workers.
