In 2020, the national minimum wage in Iran remained fixed at €389.8 per month, that is 4,678 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Rials, which is the official currency in Iran, we can see that, this year, it was 18,340,000 Rials and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 3,170,000 Rials per month from the previous year, 20.9%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2019 which was 27.8%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.
If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Iran is in 48 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 118 of the list.
