In 2008, the national minimum wage in Chile remained fixed at €208.8 per month, that is 2,506 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.
If we look at the minimum salary in Chilean pesos, which is the official currency in Chile, we can see that, this year, it was 151,500 Chilean pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 12,000 Chilean pesos per month from the previous year, 8.6%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2007 which was 7.8%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.
If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Chile is in 36 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 90 of the list.
