In 2018 Maldives public debt was 3,068 million euros 3,623 million dollars, has increased 418630 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 68.03% of Maldives GDP, a 6.44 percentage point rise from 2017, when it was 61.59% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Maldives debt. It has risen since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 602 million euros 885 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 38.96%.
According to the last data point published, Maldives per capita debt in 2018 was 5,949 euros7,026 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 5,338 euros 6,030 dollars, afterwards rising by 611 euros996 dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 1,942 euros2,856 dollars .
The position of Maldives, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 141 in the list of debt to GDP and 134 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
