In 2016 Bahamas public debt was 5,398 million euros 5,974 million dollars, has increased 317336 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 68% of Bahamas GDP, a 3.46 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 64.54% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Bahamas debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 1,844 million euros 2,316 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 29.55%.
According to the last data point published, Bahamas per capita debt in 2016 was 13,799 euros15,270 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 13,959 euros 15,489 dollars, afterwards dropping by 160 euros 219dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 5,606 euros7,040 dollars .
The position of Bahamas, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 135 in the list of debt to GDP and 155 in debt per capita, out of the 184 we publish.
