In 2016 Afghanistan public debt was 1,412 million euros 1,563 million dollars, has decreased 239 269 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 8.03% of Afghanistan GDP, a 1.09 percentage point fall from 2015, when it was 9.12% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Afghanistan debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 1,268 million euros 1,592 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 22.99%.
According to the last data point published, Afghanistan per capita debt in 2016 was 41 euros45 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 52 euros 57 dollars, afterwards dropping by 11 euros 12dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 49 euros62 dollars .
The position of Afghanistan, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 3 in the list of debt to GDP and 1 in debt per capita, out of the 184 we publish.
