In 2017 Afghanistan public debt was 1,255 million euros 1,418 million dollars, has decreased 119 102 million since 2016.
This amount means that the debt in 2017 reached 7% of Afghanistan GDP, a 0.82 percentage point fall from 2016, when it was 7.82% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Afghanistan debt. It has gone down since 2007 in global debt terms, when it was 1,257 million euros 1,723 million dollars , and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 20.14%.
According to the last data point published, Afghanistan per capita debt in 2017 was 35 euros39 dollars per inhabitant. In 2016 it was 40 euros 44 dollars, afterwards dropping by 5 euros 5dollars, and if we again check 2007 we can see that then the debt per person was 47 euros65 dollars .
The position of Afghanistan, as compared with the rest of the world, has remained in 2017 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 4 in the list of debt to GDP and 2 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
