In 2018 Afghanistan public debt was 1,145 million euros 1,353 million dollars, has decreased 190 155 million since 2017.
This amount means that the debt in 2018 reached 6.89% of Afghanistan GDP, a 0.56 percentage point fall from 2017, when it was 7.45% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Afghanistan debt. It has gone down since 2008 in global debt terms, when it was 1,334 million euros 1,963 million dollars , and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 19.06%.
According to the last data point published, Afghanistan per capita debt in 2018 was 31 euros36 dollars per inhabitant. In 2017 it was 37 euros 42 dollars, afterwards dropping by 6 euros 6dollars, and if we again check 2008 we can see that then the debt per person was 49 euros72 dollars .
The position of Afghanistan, as compared with the rest of the world, has remained in 2018 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 4 in the list of debt to GDP and 2 in debt per capita, out of the 186 we publish.
