In 2016, CO2 emissions in Turkmenistan have grown 0.189 megatons, 0.28% compared to 2015.
CO2 emissions in 2016 were 66.612 megatons, making Turkmenistan is the 134th conutry in the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.
In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in Turkmenistan, have decreased in 2016, in which they have been 11.76 tons per inhabitant.
Regarding evolution f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, Turkmenistan, has emitted 0.87 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, a lower figure than in 2015. Turkmenistan is one of the least efficient countries in environmental terms, as it is among the countries that send the most CO2 into the atmosphere for every $ 1,000 of GDP.
In the table we can see the evolution of CO2 emissions, which have grown since 2006, as have per capita emissions and, on the contrary, CO2 emissions per $ 1,000 of GDP.
Total carbon dioxide emissions have also increased in the last five years, although in this period at least per capita emissions have been reduced.
