CO2 emissions, in Sri Lanka in 2022, have fallen 2.634 megatons, 12.44% compared to 2021.
CO2 emissions in 2022 were 18.536 megatons, making Sri Lanka is the 94th conutry in the ranking of countries for CO2 emissions, made up of 184 countries, in which the countries are ranked from least to most pollutant.
In addition to its total emissions of CO2 into the atmospher, which logically depend, among other variables, on the country's population, it is convenient to analyze the behavior of its emissions per inhabitant. In the table we see that per capita CO2 emissions in Sri Lanka, have decreased in 2022, in which they have been 0.87 tons per inhabitant.
If you look at evolution f CO2 emissions per 1000 dollars of GDP, which measures, for the same country, the "environmental efficiency" with which it is produced over time. In the last period, Sri Lanka, has emitted 0.07 kilos for every $ 1,000 of GDP, the same as in 2021.
In the table we can see the evolution of CO2 emissions, which have grown in the last ten years, while per capita emissions have decreased and, on the contrary, CO2 emissions per $ 1,000 of GDP.
However, in the last five years, total emissions have decreased in Sri Lanka, as have emissions per capita, then the situation is improving.
