Yemen - Intentional self-harm

By 2008, suicides in Yemen increased by 118 people to at 1,891 suicides In 2008, on average 5 Yemenis committed suicide every day.

In Yemen there were 8.46 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,891 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 1,261 were men suicides and 631 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.68 per 100,000 men and for women 5.47 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Yemen suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 874 homicides in Yemen, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.2 suicides.
