In Viet Nam there were 7.03 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 6,120 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 4,617 were men suicides and 1,503 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.84 per 100,000 men and for women 3.42 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Viet Nam suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,233 homicides in Viet Nam, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5 suicides.
