Suicides grow in Tunisia

By 2008, suicides in Tunisia increased by 15 people to at 519 suicides In Tunisia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Tunisia there were 4.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 519 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 315 were men suicides and 204 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.93 per 100,000 men and for women 3.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tunisia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 280 homicides in Tunisia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
