Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,341 recorded suicide cases in 1997, 963 were men suicides and 378 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 27.8 per 100,000 men and for women 10.4 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Switzerland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 87 homicides in Switzerland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.4 suicides.
