Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1987 around 1,576 suicides occurred in Switzerland, 90 more than in 1986. In 1987, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland reported 24.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.56 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,576 recorded suicide cases in 1987, 1,118 were men suicides and 458 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 35 per 100,000 men and for women 13.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
