Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1986 occurred 1,486 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 134 fewer people committed suicide than in 1985. In 1986, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland had 22.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 15.39 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,486 recorded suicide cases in 1986, 1,045 were men suicides and 441 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 33 per 100,000 men and for women 13.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
