Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1984 around 1,600 suicides occurred in Switzerland, 21 less than in 1983. In 1984, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland reported 24.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.98 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,600 recorded suicide cases in 1984, 1,134 were men suicides and 466 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 36.1 per 100,000 men and for women 14.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
