Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1983 occurred 1,621 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 47 more people committed suicide than in 1982. In 1983, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland had 25.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.81 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,621 recorded suicide cases in 1983, 1,157 were men suicides and 464 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 37 per 100,000 men and for women 14.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
