Switzerland has a very high suicide rate

In 1961 occurred 1,001 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 16 fewer people committed suicide than in 1960. On average, there are 3 suicides per day.

Switzerland had 18.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 11.25 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 1,001 recorded suicide cases in 1961, 695 were men suicides and 306 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 26.4 per 100,000 men and for women 10.9 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
