In Rwanda there were 9.97 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 947 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 823 were men suicides and 124 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.42 per 100,000 men and for women 2.45 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Rwanda suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 144 homicides in Rwanda, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.6 suicides.
