Russia has a very high suicide rate

By 1999, suicides in Russia increased by 5,506 people to at 57,276 suicides In 1999, on average 157 Russians committed suicide every day.

In Russia there were 38.9 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 14.31 suicides per 100,000 people.

Russia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 57,276 recorded suicide cases in 1999, 47,345 were men suicides and 9,931 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 68.7 per 100,000 men and for women 12.7 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Russia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 38,225 homicides in Russia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.5 suicides.
