Norway - Intentional self-harm

In 1999 occurred 583 suicides in Norway. This year, 35 more people committed suicide than in 1998. In Norway, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Norway had 13.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 14.31 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Norway, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 583 recorded suicide cases in 1999, 430 were men suicides and 153 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.5 per 100,000 men and for women 6.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Norway suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 33 homicides in Norway, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 17.7 suicides.
