Netherlands had 9.4 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.98 self-harm per 100.000 people.
Of the 1,500 recorded suicide cases in 2000, 999 were men suicides and 501 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.7 per 100,000 men and for women 6.2 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Netherlands suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 180 homicides in Netherlands, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 8.3 suicides.
