Suicides fell in Mauritius

By 2008, suicides in Mauritius increased by 48 people to at 90 suicides

In Mauritius there were 7.26 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 90 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 77 were men suicides and 13 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.43 per 100,000 men and for women 2.14 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Mauritius suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 48 homicides in Mauritius, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
