Latvia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 611 recorded suicide cases in 1987, 414 were men suicides and 197 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34 per 100,000 men and for women 14 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
