Latvia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 852 recorded suicide cases in 1983, 653 were men suicides and 199 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 55.6 per 100,000 men and for women 14.5 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
