Latvia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 868 recorded suicide cases in 1982, 639 were men suicides and 229 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 54.8 per 100,000 men and for women 16.8 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
