Kazakhstan has a very high suicide rate

In 2001 around 5,751 suicides occurred in Kazakhstan, 68 more than in 2000. In 2001, on average 16 Kazakhs committed suicide every day.

Kazakhstan reported 38.73 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.88 suicides per 100,000 people.

Kazakhstan has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 5,751 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 4,862 were men suicides and 889 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 68.77 per 100,000 men and for women 11.42 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Kazakhstan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,160 homicides in Kazakhstan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.7 suicides.
