Suicides increase in Jordan

In 2001 occurred 179 suicides in Jordan. This year, 2 more people committed suicide than in 2000.

Jordan had 3.43 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 10.88 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Jordan, has a relatively low rate of suicide per inhabitants.

Of the 179 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 130 were men suicides and 49 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 4.87 per 100,000 men and for women 1.95 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Jordan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 42 homicides in Jordan, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.3 suicides.
